My Ride That Has Been With Me Through & Through - SUZUKI DR200

My Suzuki DR200

This is one of the most durable bike I've ridden so far and it has served me well the past 4 years or so. It has taken me through races, mud pools, falls, uphill climbs, slopes etc and has never failed me. I've been wanting to let it go because I was looking for an upgrade (like a KTM250) but when the day finally came, it felt so so sentimental. Sigh~
Oh well, sometimes good things go for better things to come through :)

Why is it a really good bike?
"The Suzuki DR200SE is designed to help you discover both trail and street riding. It has a sturdy diamond frame, long-travel suspension and high traction tires, so it soaks up rough terrain and handles well on tight trails, but it also has all the needed features to make it street legal, along with a wide powerband and smooth acceleration." - by TopSpeed.com

It's durable and hardy

Of so many times I've fallen off it, drowned it in mud pools, hitting into trees, taking small jumps, it has never once failed me. Compared to some KTM200s (for example) after dropping it a few times, it refuses to start due to carburetor flood/spark plug foul/etc.

It's extremely low maintenance

All you have to do is change the engine oil and oil filter every alternate month which costs about $10 - $15 each time. That's it. It will function optimally.

It has efficient fuel consumption

This single cylinder four stroke bike has very good fuel consumption. It's tank is at about 14 liters and say you travel from East Coast to/fro Raffles Place daily, you only need to pump petrol once a week.

It's electric start

The magic button that everyone wishes to have especially when you're stuck in trail. Kickstarting consumes a lot of energy, and it makes it harder to do so when you're on uneven ground, for .e.g a slope, soft sand, in the mud pool. With the DR200, just press the button and go!

It has great turning ratio

The DR200 has great turning ratio which allows you to maneuver pass obstruction more easily during off road for e.g. trees, ditches, stones.

Mild power but sufficient

The bike isn't powerful compared to other bikes like KTM250, WR250, KLX200 but it's sufficient for beginners or those who are looking for a relaxed trail ride. It isn't too overbearing so you can manage the bike at utmost ease.
