Pimped With CNC Racing - Wing Yap Motor

So, I've got a thang for Red.

And you know, having pretty bike accessories fitted on a bike is just like ladies wearing make up.
It can be a powerful cosmetic enhancement!

Stainless Steel Shortie Clutch Lever
Things can only get more deliciously red when my baby Ducati gets pimped by Wing Yap Motor with CNC Racing accessories mostly made of billet aluminium alloy (strong and lightweight).

Sprocket Flange - This star turns into a red ball when it starts spinning!
Made in Italy and distributed internationally from Europe, Asia, Oceania to Africa, CNC Racing is fundamentally built by a team of people who are about Speed, Precision and Quality equipped with the highest technologies.

A familiar face to the racing scene, CNC Racing has been actively involved with SBK Althea Racing since 2011 - 2014 as their official technical sponsor.

Camshaft cover
As their brand name suggests, most of CNC racing products are crafted via CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Machining which is a manufacturing process involving the use of computers to control the machinery that directly creates the parts.

CNC Racing products are born from an intelligent mixture of innovation and design, using valuable material that's worked with utmost care.

I'm someone who normally prefers my big toys and their parts to be all stock. But hey, if CNC Racing accessories could cosmetically enhance my lil red beast without compromising it's performance, why not?

Brake Lever
Apart from boosting my bike's appearance in a subtle way (I don't like it when it's too loud), certain parts increases my riding comfort too - Especially the shortie clutch and brake levers, since I usually use just two fingers on them anyway.

The numbered lever distance selector makes adjusting the reach of my levers easy too.

Wheel valve cap set
It's always the little details that counts, and CNC Racing never fails to pay attention to them. Though it's just an air valve cap, its made of strong aluminium that tightens well compared to some others where we keep losing them forever (ride halfway fly out kind / turn halfway it cracks kind).

Fork Spring Preload Adjuster
See! Look, so stylish, right? They are made of solid alloy and beautifully anodized! Ok but on my Ducati Hypermotard, it's really just for show because my fork spring is non adjustable heh.

Rear wheels axel nut set
From major motorbike races to the most personalized home garage, CNC Racing is identified by their unique and creative customizations to suit every biker's needs.

Spyde LED Signal Lights
They are sleek and small, but these indicators are APPROVED on the roads! So, there is no need to worry for the Traffic Police stopping me. HEH. Made of aluminium, I can rejoice because I will no longer need to frustrate over my stock signal lights breaking and saving it's broken neck with duct tape.

After spending almost half a day at Wing Yap Motor, my Ducati Hypermotard is finally done up stylishly with CNC Racing accessories and it feels oh so prettyyyyy with red bling blings!

I've got my baby pimped.

Check out how you can too HERE!

Here's a short video clip featuring the CNC Racing accessories installed on my bike, filmed by lifestyle camera, the HTC Re :)

Standing Against The Odds - Desmond Tong

Sometimes you don't know how strong you are, until being strong is the only choice you have.

Looking at this bubbly face, you'd never guess what he has previously gone through
This is a true story of a young brave man, who lost everything he had, but despite the severe circumstances, despite all the odds against him, he chose to fight on and give himself a new lease of life.

I am honored to meet the man, Desmond Tong, to learn about his inspiring story over some uniquely roasted coffee and deliciously sinful ice chocolate over at Collective Brewers.

Waking up every morning, he'd start the day with a basketball game with his boys, followed by a scrumptious lunch before roughing it out in Judo training through the afternoon. Talking, laughing with friends, and always looking forward to riding his Yamaha WR200 dirt bike back home for dinner and trail riding on weekends.

Desmond, who was the youngest among three children in the family, was as active as can be. He excelled in both academics and sports. Since his teens, he represented Singapore for Judo and Singapore Armed Forces Sports Association (SAFSA) in the army. He was also involved in competitive basketball, badminton, rugby, hockey. You name it.

However, it was all gone in one evening.

That fateful day, he told his mom that he is going out to meet some friends and will be back soon.

He never made it back.

At a four-way cross junction on Victoria Street (the same fatal accident site as the Ferrari and a Taxi in 2012), he got hit head on by a Taxi.

Lost, shocked, and injured, Desmond remained conscious upon impact as he was still numb of any pain from his devastating injury due to adrenalin. Blood was gushing out and staining the ground like an oil spillage, all yet to his unknown.

His right leg was severed, from shin down with a crushed ankle with his tibier broken (the part between the knee and the ankle)

He was losing blood fast.

In fact, too much, too fast.

The ambulance rushed over and he was immediately sent to the Emergency Operation Room where without further delay, the doctors anxiously tried to stop the bleeding.

Everything happened so fast, it was all in chaos.

Barely an hour ago, Desmond was joking and laughing about what not with his friends.

Now, he is grappling for his life.

The nurses regretfully advised his family members to prepare for the worse. Due to the excessive blood loss, Desmond had a slim chance of making it through that night.

His mom almost passed out upon the news. She was about to lose her youngest son, just like that.

After many hours in the operating room, the doctors finally came out where Desmond's worried parents received the news - He is in stable condition, but they could not guarantee the salvation of his right leg.

Over the next few months, Desmond underwent 6 major operations, bravely facing one every 2 weeks consecutively, scarred with over 300 stitches all over his masculine body.

The doctors did their best to re-attach his broken leg with numerous metal fixators; from abstracting muscles to skin grafting, replacing flaps and arteries, but unfortunately, to no avail. The blood circulation down to the broken leg was repeatedly unsuccessful. Due to open wound infections and further vascular complications, the doctors eventually had to amputate his right leg.

Physically, Desmond was in pain.

Mentally, he was already tipping over the verge of breaking down.

Deep in his heart, he just couldn't take this nightmare anymore.

His life was crushed, his soul was destroyed.

After being discharged from the hospital, Depression sunk in swiftly as he spent the next 12 months without leaving his room. This was his darkest moments of his life. He severed all connections from the world; his friends, his family. All he had were cigarettes and the accident on replay in his head.

Friends tried to reach out but he would shut them all out. Dreams of walking again was terribly destroyed.

Alas, he decided to end it all and commit the unthinkable - Suicide.

He told his dearest mother about it, all the preparations he has made and all that he will leave behind.
As he was about to helplessly take that leap off the building, his mom whispered painfully with tears rolling down her face,

"I can't stop you from jumping, son. But I will follow you."

There and then, it halted all his thoughts of suicide because he knew, he can't do this to mother.

15 years has passed on, Desmond is now a Prosthetist/Orthotist at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He also volunteers regularly at the Amputee Support Group, Amputee Sports Activities Passion Group to help those who were once where he was.

He has also been featured on TODAY, The Straits Times and you can watch a video of his story HERE.

Desmond who was a scholar, has later found himself a place as a National Archer in Team Singapore, competing in the Paralympics. He have also went on to represent Singapore in the 7th Asean Para Games in 100m Sprint and Discus throw.

Not only that, but yes! He is back on two wheels!

Not on the road of course, but during his leisure off-road fun when he travels overseas. He shared that the thing he loves most about dirt biking are the very obstacles that are placed before him to overcome, and no matter how many times he falls, he gets back up.

The insurmountable courage and faith Desmond has gathered to overcome obstacles that were arduously punishing thrown at him is truly commendable.

I hope this story inspires - There is nothing we cannot do.

Every problem comes with a solution.
It's whether you are determined enough to patiently find the answer.

If you want something, you'll find a way.
If not, you'll find an excuse.

If you have a dream, don't let anyone or anything take that away. Build it strong and courageously, live the very life that you have strive for because the truth is, whether you say you can or can't, you are right.

Save Not One, But Many Lives. Be A Blood Donor - Red Cross Singapore

For quite a number of months now, I've been thinking of donating blood but never really got down to doing it because damn, did you see the size of the needle?

Credits to mraihana
 IT'S DAMN BIG!

It's so intimidating and quite scary. You see this thing (needle) poking into your veins and your blood streams out just like that, into a packet. Sounds painful already. Besides, I was never a fan of needles.
Uh~!

So one day, I decided to switch my brain off and let my hands, legs and horse (my Ducati of course) take me to Red Cross Singapore at HSA building.

Note, not everyone can be a blood donor. Some want to donate but due to certain health reasons and requirements, they can't. For example;

*Pregnant women - They need all the blood they have for themselves and the baby
*45KG and below - Not comforting at all that I weigh above this, but whatever
*STD (Sexual Transmitted Disease) - This can be passed onto another patient by blood
*Too low blood pressure/iron/haemoglobin

Etc etc....

Filling in the registration form & questionaire
After mastering enough courage (yeah I can be a scaredy cat) and bringing myself down to Red Cross, wouldn't it be disappointing if end up I not making the cut for donating blood?

Let's see if I do!

Step 1: Measure Blood Pressure

Okay, so the doctor strapped the inflatable air cuff thingy (it's called sphygmomanometer, bet you didn't know right lol) around my arm that gives a real tight squeeze to measure my blood pressure.

First measure: Fail.
Second measure: Fail.
Third measure: Fail.

Wait wait, before you think I'm that weak ah, my blood pressure was fine. Just that Iron level abit too low. Maybe because I haven't had breakfast or anything to eat or drink. So I grabbed a light bite and water before seeing the doctor again.

Fourth measure: Pass.

Allllrighttt! I barely made the cut.

Step 2: Haemoglobin Test

YEP! My middle finger gets pricked! I'd take it as a little punishment for giving it out on the roads when necessary sometimes hahaha.

People with too low or too high haemoglobin (red blood cells) would not be able to donate blood.

Results: Pass.

Step 3: Finding The Veins

This is the final step before you see your blood getting drained out like a spoilt tap!
Ok I might be exaggerating a little, but yeah, you get the idea.

A stress ball is placed in both my left and right palm and I've to squeeze it hard to make my little veins visible.

Ok apparently my veins are too tiny that it can't been seen.

After trying to locate my vein, the nurses weren't able to and advised that perhaps I come back in a month or two and try again for the donation.

NAOOOOOO!

I insisted the nurse to search for it one more time.

This time, I clenched my fist like I am about to punch someone real hard in the face :)
Hooray! My veins are somewhat visible, good enough for the blood donation to take place.

The first injection is the painkiller and the second for the blood itself. Based on my weight, I am only allowed to donate up to 350ML of blood, which almost equals to a can of coke.

Credits to funnypictures
Any more blood that is taken, I would end up like victims in Vampire Diaries.

Same facial expression when I sit a roller coaster
I was quite scared and didn't dare to look at the needle-poking-finding-my-vein process, so I held onto my helmet LOL like how a kid would hold a teddy bear. Well, it didn't really help.

What did help was my comical friends who accompanied me. They just kept talking to me, shoving silly jokes in my face so I would be too busy laughing my head off and be distracted by any form of pain.

Barely 5 minutes later, it was done! Success!

Truth be known, the whole process was actually PAINLESS!

I literally did not really feel anything! The nurses who assisted me were so professional and made sure everything was done at my ultimate comfort.

Like warm ribena
Tada! Fresh warm blood!

I've saved 3 lives today with the amount of blood I've donated and I feel so happy :)
Nothing beats helping others in need.

Have you done your part?
Head on down to Red Cross now and save not one, not two, but at least three lives today!

Gonna ride home and rest now! ;)

Note: Don't drive or ride if you feel dizzy/nauseous/weak after the blood donation.
