Beyond Everest for Singapore Disability Sports Council

We should never disqualify the capability and value of persons with disabilities.

#BeyondEverest

We all have our different "mountain" of challenges in Life, we all have Dreams.
But how do you plan to conquer it and turn your dream into a reality?

As some of you might already know, this June, I will be riding my Suzuki DR200 motorcycle solo (no support vehicle/no film crew), every day consecutively, from Singapore to the Himalayas Region in Tibet where Mount Everest North Base Camp sits, to raise funds and awareness for the Singapore Disability Sports Council.

Over the past week, I've had the privilege to spend time with some of the athletes of the Singapore Disability Sports Council and I would like to take this opportunity to share with you a few courageous ones who have inspired me much more than I personally expected.

But nothing can stop this strong-willed man who is determined to overcome any challenge thrown at him. As I interacted with him, I could sense his strong fighting spirit which has led him to where he is today, touching the lives of many.

Walking again
He has since gone on to pursue his degree in a private school and still works for the Republic of Singapore Navy.

Kevin Wong

An active boy since young, he loved and played competitive basketball, soccer and had a burning passion for motorcycling. Kevin lost his right leg in an accident where he was hit real hard in the rear by another motorcyclist.

Hanging out with Kevin at Race Werks

With the unconditional love and support from his family, Kevin is now highly equipped with mechanical skills, specializing in dyno tuning and customizing Öhlins suspensions for super bikes at Race Werks Motorsports. He is also a National Athlete in Archery for Team Singapore, supported by the Singapore Disability Sports Council.

Thanks to crowdfunding site GIVEASIA, I've managed to set up a movement for Beyond Everest where all of you can donate directly to Singapore Disability Sports Council to support their athletes!

Funds will provide the disabled with opportunities to train, participate and excel in sports for local, regional and international competitions, like the upcoming Asean Para Games in December 2015.

It will assist in enhancing the lifestyles of the disabled and integrate them into the community through recreational sports and activities.

Two against one! Having a friendly game with Jason Chee which .. I lost. Haha

Having a heart to heart talk with Bee Tin
You won't have a minute without laughter talking to Bee Tin, a very cheerful lady who is in the Table Tennis team. As we talked, she shared how she found life back through sports and it was under the patience and care of their coach where she and her team mates excelled in Table Tennis.

With Bee Tin
Funds raised will provide support for SDSC's athletes and individuals to never stop believing and realize their potentials to continue to impact the world with a positive difference.

In line with SDSC's vision and goal is to promote, through sports, the well-being of the disabled in Singapore, helping them to live full and independent lives.

You could change a life today!

Let's live to give. Make your very own donation here now :)
