Personalize With HAIR INC. And Meet SUPER JUNIOR! [Giveaway]

It has been more than many months since I had my tresses creatively dyed in purple ombre by Hair Inc and only after such a long duration did the color start to fade. Which I then decided to try PINK!

Somehow I grew out of the color really quickly (after about a month), and after much thought, I decided to try GREEN!

I wasn't sure how well the color was gonna turn out because its Green going over pink and there may be some color clash, but Queenie from Hair Inc never fail to do a great job on my tresses.

Luckily I didn't have to re-bleach my hair otherwise my hair would just break off because I previously bleached it once already when I dyed it pink.

With Kenneth, the young & good lookin boss of Hair Inc.

I love it that its not just the premium quality of the dye Hair Inc uses, but the stylists application skills, and modern technology equipment used that helps to successfully achieve my desired color.

Because Of You, We Are, SINGAPORE. #LeeKuanYew

Monday 23rd March 2015, 3:18AM

The passing of one of the world's greatest politician, someone whom we can proudly call our own, our Prime Minister Mr Lee Kuan Yew.

From nothing but dust, to a first world country, was what he built Singapore as it is with his hands, with his might, with his life.

He may have passed, but his legacy will live on.

In remembrance, here are some great quotes from the man himself:

"Even from my sickbed, even if you are going to lower me into the grave and I feel that something is going wrong, I will get up" - 1988

"I always tried to be correct, not politically correct."

"At the end of the day, what I cherish most are the human relationships. With the unfailing support of my wife and partner I have lived my life to the fullest. It is the friendships I made and the close family ties I nurtured that have provided me with that sense of satisfaction at a life well lived, and have made me what I am." - 2003

"I've lived long enough to know that you may be idealized in life and reviled after you're dead."

“Between being loved and being feared, I have always believed Machiavelli was right. If nobody is afraid of me, I’m meaningless.”

“Anybody who decides to take me on needs to put on knuckle-dusters. If you think you can hurt me more than I can hurt you, try. There is no way you can govern a Chinese society.”

Because of You, we are, Singapore.
Because of You, we are, Singaporeans.

Thank you.

An Afternoon With Red Bull Sponsored Rider Chris Birch - by the Braap Brothers

Chris Birch

Red Bull's Official Sponsored Rider, this New Zealander is all about Extreme Enduro.

Credits to Red Bull
Having crowned 1st for the Roof of Africa Enduro race for three consecutive years (2008 - 2010) and finishing Top 3 every year (2007 - 2011) at the Red Bull Romaniacs, Birchy (what his friends call him) has proven despite such races that can often stretch beyond physical and mental exhaustion, he's got it all in control.

We don't have him here in Singapore, but Ulu Choh Dirt Park is near enough (18 minutes from Singapore's Tuas Checkpoint) where Chris Birch is flown in to conduct an exclusive Off-Road clinic, proudly organized by the Braap Brothers.

What better way to pick up some tips and tricks from the Pro of the Pros over a midweek afternoon?

It was just me and my little black lamb (my suzuki DR200), among the herd of the orange mean machines (KTMsssss). I don't feel intimidated at all... totally :D Cuz I'm sure Chris will take really good care of every single one of us!

Right, Chris?

Sounds.. good..

Without further delay, we started off with some fundamental theory on the set up of our dirt bikes.

Taken with HTC Re Camera
Bike Set Up

From the positioning of our handlebars, to the level of our levers, we learnt that it's important to have these basics in place as it really helps us ride in the most optimum comfort, which directly affects how well we ride.

Riding Position

Next, sitting and standing position during off road is essential to get it right to maintain your center of gravity while on the bumpy roads. This involves moving just your hips instead of your entire body when countering corners and tight bends.

Getting some help here
Tyre Pressure

There is no magic number to what our tyre pressure should be because its subjected to various factors like the type of bike, the rider's weight, type of tyres etc etc. Hence, go by your feel. Release the air till its moderately soft enough but not to the point it might damage your rims.

Through the theory, Chris pointed out common bad habits that even seasoned riders have, but hey, its never too late to correct them. He taught us many things that made practical sense and when we tried it on the spot, we realize how much easier it was to ride off road properly.

Not just that, but the skills he shared is also very helpful especially when riding on the roads because it instills a natural sense of defensive riding in us, which could save us from potential accidents etc.

Wanna know what exactly he taught us?
SIGN UP FOR THE CLINIC THE NEXT TIME ROUND! :) hahaha

After all that theory, its time for some tight trails, rocky hill climbs and curvy steep slopes!

Taken with Drift Camera - With abit of hands on earlier, my face has new dust make up!
With the sun at its mightiest now, what are we waiting for? Let's go!

Chris on his KTM 450EXC
Taken with HTC Re Camera - Me on my DR200 trying my best to imitate Chris with mini jumps

Uphill climbs in the jungle
Up and down we went, left and right we turned, Chris took us through and guided us all the way. The whole trail was well paced and no pressure at all. We applied the techniques learnt during the theory and realized significant riding improvement.

"Boo, how much mud is there on my faceee?"
Boy, it was scorching hot under the sweltering heat. Sweat trickling down our backs with dust all over our faces, yet we were all in smiles from the ride.

Cheerios to Chris Birch for being SUPER AWESOME!!

With THE MAN :D

What an honor not just getting to meet Chris, but to have an up close and personal dirt bike coaching session by him!

Red Bull Sponsored Rider Chris Birch Off Road Riding Clinic would not have been possible without Team Braap Brothers, a big Thank You to these guys!

Gone Fishing!

Credits to roatanguide.
Yeah, that's MY idea of fishing when someone talks to me about it. Well.. it's an unrealistic expectation especially for a super newbie like me who have never touched a rod before.

Sunrise
So, since I was in Thailand for the Ducati Scrambler launch, I decided to extend my trip and crash my friends' holiday party. One of them is crazy about fishing, so here we are (Kanchanaburi), dragging our asses out early, to FISH.

I was actually quite excited because I'm not sure what I will catch.

Step 1: Take a WEFIE
With some late night partying and drinks the night before, check out our faces: We are SO awake.

The last thing you want is to see someone tipping over the boat, falling into the water while fishing because he/she is still having a hangover.

Oh wait, that would be the first thing I'd wanna see >:)

The Boss
We got on our lil cute sampan (boat) and sailed out into the fresh water lake. You wouldn't feel very safe in the boat if you were onboard with us (3 girls, 1 fishing for the first time). The possibility of someone falling over is potentially THERE.

Gears ready
The Boss was a kind man so he prepared our gears and whatever we needed the night beforehand so none of us can say "we are too tired/hungover/piggish, can we postpone this".

My bait!
There are mainly two kinds of baits: Artificial (plastic) and Natural (worms).
The fisher chooses its bait by the kind of fish he wants to catch, according to its habitat.

For us, there was this whole box of artificial colorful baits, with different kinds of fish-like/frog-like faces. I got green froggie.

"Watch your hook, please"

This was probably said to me many times as the minute I got my hands on the rod, hooks were seen flying in every direction. Suddenly, from a fishing game, it became DODGING game!

At one point, my girlfriend felt something tugging her top while I was facing the opposite direction, looking out in the vast open waters, asking

"hey, where is my bait? It's stuck somewhere but I can't see it"

Literally.
A few seconds later, she screamed.

Each time I swung my bait into the water, the whole sampan rocked dangerously and everyone would scramble to find their footing.

And they'd scream.

After an hour out in the still waters, I was reeling in for the hundredth time until somehow, my whole reel detatched itself and flew into the water. I have no idea how it happened. Thankfully for our boatman, he saved it with his net and scooped it back up.

 And the boss screamed.

My very own first catch - A Hampala Barb
Finally, I felt something tugging my line and it just sent me into a jumping excitement mode!

"Something is pulling! GOT FISH GOT FISH!!"

Yay! My very first catch :D
It's not huge, definitely not what I had imagined it to be, but decent for it's breed (Hampala Barb/Sebarau).

Ingrid's.
And, my girlfriend's catch.
Ok, I'm going to crawl into some hole and hide myself.....

Definitely looking forward to my next fishing trip with great company ;)
